Weis-Bier Chartered as Harambanistan’s First Brewery

Beer is a big part of Harambanistan’s culture. Now, beer making will be as well. On August 27, the Weis-Bier was registered and chartered as Harambanistan’s first brewery.

Founded in 2018, Weis-Bier has been a small independent brewery focusing on producing traditional German style beers. Styles brewed in the past include kolsch, dunkelweissen, marzen, stout, and pilsner.

Along with the introduction of the beer industry to Harambanistan, the legal code was edited to include a Reinheitsgebot clause. The Reinheitsgebot, first introduced in Bavaria in 1516, is a beer purity law that requires beer to be made only using its traditional ingredients: malted grains, hops, water, and yeast. In addition, a law was added that “Breweries may not brew any any beer in which the taste of the hops overpowers the taste of the malt.” According to the State Council, the purpose of these laws is to ensure that Harambanistani beer remains pure, connected to its roots, and fit for human consumption.

To regulate this new industry, the office of Brewmaster-General has been created. Roy Royson, who is also the founder and brewmaster of Weis-Bier, has been chosen as the inaugural holder of the role.
